In 2018, the Wenchuan earthquake lasted for 10 years. Yingxiu, a small town in the epicenter, has always touched people’s hearts.
10 years ago, Xi Jinping, then Vice President of the State, visited the affected people in Yingxiu disaster area; 10 years later, Secretary Xi Jinping brought warmth to the local people in Yingxiu before the Spring Festival this year, greatly inspiring the enthusiasm of the people in the town to achieve a well-off life.
As the 10th anniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake, our reporter went deep into the epicenter town Yingxiu for an interview.

The collapsed main building was frozen in the posture of the afternoon of “May 12”, and some of the victims were still sleeping under the twisted steel concrete. The white marble monument is filled with yellow or white chrysanthemums. The July 1st Middle School and Bayi Middle School that were built later are beautiful and upright.
Amidst the mountains, on the banks of the Minjiang River, Wenzhou City Qiyi Yingxiu Middle School stands among the green mountains and clear waters. Its predecessor was Yukiguchi Middle School, which turned into ruins during the earthquake. The current July 1st Middle School was fully donated by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. On April 9, Sugar baby Yiyingxiu Middle School in Wenchuan County held an adult ceremony for high school students of 2015. At Yingxiu Da Love Theme Park – Aicube, the coming-of-age ceremony kicked off with the solemn and loud national anthem. Amid the applause of the teachers and under the guidance of parents, the children walked through the adult door with excitement and steady steps. The sky in Yingxiu is blue, and five-star red flags are flying on the exquisite roofs. Every family here is rebuilt with the support of the people of the whole country, and every house is carefully designed and built after bidding. On the side of the main road in the town, several technical specimens of the building structure used were displayed. In addition to beauty and convenience, the most important indicator of Yingxiu Building is earthquake resistance, which requires that “small earthquakes are not damaged, medium earthquakes can be repaired, and large earthquakes cannot fall.”The most solid is public buildings, and schools and hospitals can withstand magnitude 9 earthquakes.
Life held up by great love

The original song “Yingxiu flowers bloom”, Tang Xingyue has sang the original song hundreds of times. What she remembers the most was the time in February 2018.
In February 2018, Xi Jinping visited Sichuan to visit and comfort cadres and people of all ethnic groups. On the morning of February 12, he made a special trip to Yingxiu Town. When Xi Jinping was about to get on the bus and leave, the people were reluctant to leave. Everyone gathered up, said goodbye to the General Secretary, and sang the song “The Flowers in Yingxiu Bloom”. Tang Xingyue stood among the crowd of choruses. After graduating from junior high school, Tang Xingyue, who likes to sing, went to Chengdu, Sichuan to study professionally. Last year, after unremitting efforts, she was finally admitted to Sichuan Film and Television College and became a freshman in the Department of Music Performance. “I told General Secretary Xi that I am a freshman and he told me to study hard.” Tang Xingyue said that at that moment, she felt that her persistence over the years was worth it.
When the earthquake occurred 10 years ago, Tang Xingyue was still a fourth-grade student in Yingxiu Primary School and was taking science classes with her classmates in the classroom on the second floor. There were only 11 students in the class that year, and Tang Xingyue’s two best sisters and favorite music teacher were unfortunately killed. She also had a hip dislocation and spinal injury, and her height was 1.2 meters as high as she was at the age of 10.
More than a year after the earthquake, Tang Xingyue was able to see the hospital diagnosis document that her mother secretly hid.
Ten years, life has given her hardships and taught her to be strong. Once, Tang Xingyue and a pocket singer named “Three Sisters” were shopping in Beijing. The three sisters took the initiative to greet the onlookers and called them “auntie”. From that moment on, Tang Xingyue also let go of her burden and let herself go from the worldly perspective.
Now, Tang Xingyue’s parents run two restaurants in the town, and her sister is also studying in Dujiangyan, and the family’s life is getting better.
“2018 is a turning point and a new beginning in my life.” Tang Xinyue said that singing once helped her get out of the haze, and in the future she will continue to stick to her musical dream.
The earthquake also changed Li Yunchun’s fate.
Li Yunchun, director of Wenchuan Youth Activity Center, has surpassed the original purpose of his life.
When the major earthquake occurred in Wenchuan, he was 27 years old and buried in the ruins of Xuankou Middle School. oneAfter being dug up by someone an hour later, his life changed drastically.
He told reporters excitedly that he would use his main energy to do public welfare and gratitude actions for society, repay the society, and repay the selfless dedication of people from all over the country.
Li Yunchun opened a dance team composed of left-behind women in each village during the Wenchuan Youth Event, and asked professionals to carry out training. According to Li Yunchun, the mooncake event held by the Wenchuan Youth Activity Center has long been “overcrowded” and children’s registration is very popular!
